SEO Basics
One of the most important things you can do when creating content for your website is to spell check your work. This is especially important when you are using a program like Canva, which is an online design tool. Canva is a great way to create professional looking designs, but if you don’t spell check your work, it can hurt your ranking in the search engines.
Set up GSC and Bing Webmaster tools
Setting up Google Search Console (GSC) and Bing Webmaster tools is one of the most basic but important tasks you can do to help improve your site’s SEO. These tools allow you to submit your site and new content to be crawled and indexed by the major search engines, which can help ensure that your site is appearing in search results. It also allows you to see data about how your site is performing in organic search, including the keywords that are driving traffic to your site and any errors that have been detected.
Set up Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free website analysis tool that helps you understand how people find and use your site. By understanding how people interact with your site, you can make informed decisions about where to focus your time and resources.
SEO is the practice of optimizing a website for Google search with the goal of earning higher web traffic levels and improving the visibility of the site. The benefits of SEO include improved brand awareness, higher web traffic, and increased ROI.
One important factor in optimizing a website for Google is making sure that the site’s content is spell-checked and error-free. Canva’s spell check feature helps you ensure that your content is error-free, which can improve your SEO results.
Install and configure an SEO plugin (wordpress)
SEO plugins can be super useful when it comes to on-page optimization. They help you with things like setting meta titles and descriptions, optimizing your images, adding alt tags, and more. Basically, they make sure you’re covering all your bases when it comes to on-page SEO.
One of the most popular SEO plugins is Yoast SEO. It’s a free plugin that offers tons of features and options, making it a good choice for beginners. Once you install and activate the plugin, you’ll see a new Yoast SEO menu item appear in your WordPress sidebar.
To configure the plugin, go to Yoast SEO » General Settings and click on the General tab. From here you can set up things like your site’s name, description, and contact info. You can also specify which user groups should have access to the plugin’s features (by default, only administrators get access).
Next, click on the Features tab to choose which features you want to enable or disable. For example, if you don’t plan on using the built-in XML sitemap feature, then you can disable it here. Once you’re done configuring the general settings, click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
Now that the basics are out of the way, let’s take a look at how to use Yoast SEO to optimize your site’s content.
Keyword Research
Learning how to spell check on Canva is important for a few reasons. First, it can help you improve your search engine optimization (SEO). Second, it can help you create more professional-looking designs. Third, it can help you avoid embarrassing mistakes.
How to spell check on canva
One of the most important aspects of keyword research is identifying your competitors. By understanding who your competitors are, you can better understand what keywords they are targeting and how to compete against them. There are a few different ways to identify your competitors:
1. Look for companies that sell similar products or services.
2. Find companies that target the same audience as you.
3. Look for companies that rank for the same keywords as you.
Once you have identified your competitors, you can start researching their keywords. There are a few different ways to do this:
1. Use a keyword research tool like Google Keyword Planner or semrush.com.
2. Check out their website and look at the keywords they are targeting.
3. Use a tool like Google AdWords Traffic Estimator to see what keywords they are bidding on.
Conduct a keyword gap analysis
When you’re trying to improve your SEO, it’s important to know which keywords you’re ranking for and which ones you’re not. This process is called a keyword gap analysis, and it can be a helpful way to determine where your SEO strategy needs improvement.
There are a few different ways to conduct a keyword gap analysis, but one of the simplest is to use a Google Sheets add-on called SERPSeq. With SERPSeq, you just enter your domain name and the competitor domain names that you want to compare yourself against. The add-on will then go through Google and pull data on which keywords each domain is ranking for.
Once you have that data, you can start to see where your domain is weak and where there are opportunities for improvement. For example, if you see that a competitor is ranking for a keyword that you’re not, that’s an opportunity to start targeting that keyword in your own SEO strategy.
Conducting a keyword gap analysis can be a helpful way to find new keywords to target, but it’s also important to remember that not all keywords are created equal. Some keywords are much more valuable than others, so it’s important to prioritize the ones that are most likely to help you improve your search engine rankings.
Find your main ‘money’ keywords
Before you start creating content, it’s important that you understand which keywords you should be targeting. That way, you can ensure that your content is optimized for search engines and your target audience.
There are a few different types of keywords that you should be aware of:
-Broad keywords: These are general terms that are relevant to your business, but they don’t necessarily describe what you do. For example, “clothing” is a broad keyword for a fashion brand.
-Niche keywords: These are more specific terms that describe what your business does. For example, “women’s clothing” is a niche keyword for a fashion brand.
-Long-tail keywords: These are very specific phrases that are less common than broad or niche keywords. They’re often used by people who know exactly what they’re looking for. For example, “black dress size 6” is a long-tail keyword for a fashion brand.
To find the right keywords for your business, start by brainstorming a list of terms related to your products or services. Then, use a keyword research tool like Google AdWords Keyword Planner to see how often these terms are searched for and how much competition there is for each one. Try to focus on long-tail keywords with low competition that are relevant to your business.
Technical SEO
When you’re creating content, it’s important to make sure that it is error-free. not only for the sake of your readers, but also for search engine optimization. This is where spell check comes in.
Leverage “Inspect URL” feature in GSC
If your website is not appearing in Google search results or if it is appearing in an unexpected position, it could be due to a number of reasons related to your website’s technical SEO. Fortunately, Google Search Console (GSC) provides a number of tools that can help you identify the root cause of the problem and take corrective measures.
One such tool is the “Inspect URL” feature, which allows you to check whether a specific URL on your website is being crawled and indexed by Google. If the URL is not being crawled or if it is being crawled but not indexed, you can use the “Fetch as Google” feature to request that Google crawls and indexes the URL.
The “Inspect URL” feature can be accessed from the “Coverage” report in GSC. To use this feature, simply enter the URL of the page that you want to check in the “URL inspection” field and click “Enter”.
Once you have done this, GSC will provide information on whether the page has been indexed and, if so, when it was last indexed. If the page has not been indexed, GSC will provide information on whether it is being crawled by Google and, if so, when it was last crawled.
If you find that a particular URL is not being indexed or crawled, you can use the “Fetch as Google” feature to request that Google crawls and indexes the URL. To do this, simply click on the “Request Indexing” button next to the “URL isn’t on Google” message.
It should be noted that there is no guarantee that Google will crawl and index a particular URL even if you use the “Fetch as Google” feature. However, using this feature will increase the chances of Google crawling and indexing the URL.
Ensure your website is mobile-friendly
A website that is not mobile-friendly will provide a poor user experience on mobile devices, resulting in a high bounce rate.
To ensure your website is mobile-friendly, you can use Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test tool. Simply enter your website URL into the tool and Google will analyze your website and provide a report on whether your website is mobile-friendly or not.
If your website is not mobile-friendly, you should make the necessary changes to make it so. Mobile-friendliness is an important ranking factor for Google, so it’s worth taking the time to ensure your website passes their test.
Check your site’s loading speed
The loading speed of your website can have a significant impact on your SEO. If your site takes too long to load, search engines will likely penalize you in their ranking algorithms. This means that you could lose out on valuable traffic and potential customers.
There are a few ways to improve your site’s loading speed, including optimizing your images and using a caching plugin. You can also try using a Content Delivery Network (CDN). A CDN is a network of servers that deliver content to users based on their geographic location. This can help improve your site’s loading speed by reducing the distance that data has to travel.
You can check your site’s loading speed using Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool. Simply enter your URL and Google will provide you with a report detailing ways that you can improve your site’s performance.
On-page and Content
Since search engines are constantly changing and updating their algorithms, it’s important to make sure your website’s content is error-free and spelling-checked. Canva’s spell check feature is a quick and easy way to check your work for errors. Here’s how to use it.
Fix duplicate, missing, and truncated title tags
When you’re creating title tags, there are three things you want to avoid at all cost: duplicate title tags, missing title tags, and truncated (or cut-off) title tags.
Duplicate title tags occur when two or more pages on your website have the same title tag. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can be confusing for users and search engines. If you have duplicate title tags, make sure that the pages are similar enough that users will expect to see the same title. For example, if you have a “Contact Us” page and an “About Us” page, it wouldn’t make sense to give them different titles.
Missing title tags are even worse than duplicates. If a page on your website doesn’t have a title tag, search engines will have a hard time understanding what the page is about. This can hurt your SEO and make it harder for users to find the right page when they’re searching for something specific.
Truncated title tags are also a problem. If your title tag is too long, it will get cut off in search results. This makes it harder for users to know what they’ll find on your page, and it could also hurt your click-through rate. A good rule of thumb is to keep your titles under 60 characters so they don’t get truncated
Find and fix duplicate or missing meta descriptions
Good meta descriptions are a valuable on-page Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactic. They can improve click-through rates (CTRs) to your website from the search engine results pages (SERPs). A well-written meta description can also be the difference between a searcher clicking on your result or someone else’s.
To make sure your website has good meta descriptions:
– Use unique descriptions for each page
– Keep your descriptions under 160 characters
– Include keywords you want to rank for, but don’t stuff them in
– Write compelling descriptions that include a call to action
Find and fix multiple H1 tags
One of the most important things you can do when creating web content is to spell check your work. This may seem like a simple task, but it’s actually vitally important for a number of reasons.
For one, spelling errors can make your content look unprofessional and can turn off potential customers or clients. Even if the rest of your content is well-written and informative, spelling mistakes will make it appear as though you didn’t bother to proofread your work – which reflects poorly on your brand.
Additionally, search engines penalize websites for containing spelling errors. This means that if you want your website to rank highly in search engine results pages (SERPs), you need to make sure all of your content is error-free. Finally, many web browsers have built-in spell checkers that will automatically flag words that are spelled incorrectly – which means users will be able to see your mistake before they even get to your website.
In short, there’s no excuse for not spell checking your web content. Luckily, there are a number of tools that can help you catch errors before they’re published. Here are just a few:
– Grammarly: This free online tool can catch spelling and grammar mistakes in everything from blog posts to essays to emails. Simply install the Grammarly extension in your web browser and start checking your work for errors.
– Google Docs: Google Docs also has a built-in spell checker that can help you spot mistakes in your writing. Simply open up a new document and start writing; when you’re finished, click “Tools” > “Spelling” to run the spell checker.
– Microsoft Word: If you’re working in Microsoft Word, you can also use the program’s built-in spell checker to catch errors. Simply open up your document and click “Review” > “Spelling & Grammar” to run the checker.
There are also a number of online spell checkers that can help you spot mistakes in your writing before you publish it online. Some of these include Spellcheckplus, Jetpack Spelling And Grammar, and After The Deadline.
Off-Page SEO
For anyone who hasn’t had a chance to use Canva, it’s an online design platform that’s beloved by small businesses and nonprofits for its simple, intuitive interface and extensive pre-made templates. You can create digital or print designs for nearly anything, from Facebook ads to blog headers to printables.
Analyze your competitor’s link profile
To do a quick and dirty analysis of your competitor’s link profile, you can use a number of different tools. My personal favorite is ahrefs.com, but Majestic and Moz Open Site Explorer are also popular options.
Once you have your competitor’s link profile, you want to look at a few things:
-The total number of links
-The total number of referring domains
-The number of links from each referring domain
-The anchor text of the links
-The PageRank or Domain Authority of the linking pages
-The PageRank or Domain Authority of the linking domains
from this data, you can start to get an idea of what kind of link building your competitor is doing, and how you can improve upon it.
Conduct a link intersect analysis
A link intersect is when you take a list of websites and see which websites are linking to all of them. This is valuable because it can help you identify authoritative websites that might be good places to get links from.
To do a link intersect, you can use a tool like Moz’s Link Intersect tool.
Target your competitors’ broken backlinks
One way to get ahead of your competition is to find and target their broken backlinks. By targeting websites that link to your competition, but not you, you can get some easy backlinks.
Here’s how you can do it:
1. Find websites that link to your competition, but not you. You can do this using a search operator in Google.
2. Reach out to the website and let them know that their link is broken and offer them a replacement link to your website.
3. Rinse and repeat!
Not only is this a great way to get some easy backlinks, but it’s also a great way to build relationships with other websites in your industry.
